I honestly feel that 98% of people who allow themselves to become medically obese & acquire habits or medical issues as a result are no different than a smoker who gets sick because of their habit or a driver who speeds & "accidentally" plows into a crowd of people. Its avoidable & irresponsible to your loved ones, not to mention puts them in an awkward position to approach resulting BS that the person themselves want to avoid, yet continue dragging their loved one through.
My bf is one such person. He feels since I don’t work (Im a disabled vet with my own insomnia issues) my sleep is less valuable than his. He works 10days of 12-14hrs days then 5 days off then 10nights 12-14hrs. We are only able to really spend time together on his week off despite the fact we live together. His appearance as far as weight doesn’t bother me, I find him very attractive, but his snoring has driven me over the edge. He literally can be heard over TV/radio, headsets you name it, no matter where in the house i try to hide. He falls asleep in under 2 minutes & snores in EVERY position even sitting straight up. He is a sport when it comes to trying products to stop the annoyance (as is the tendency of many obese people who just don’t want to exercise & become healthy), but the sprays, nose strips, mouth guards have all failed miserably & he has been to a sleep center with no apnea found. Im tired of revolving my sleep around his self induced side affect & taking the hit as the "bad person" when I attempt to roll him over or worse when i sigh in frustration he wakes up demanding to know what my problem is. LOL which frustrates me further as usually I had just tossed & turned through 6 straight hours of aggravating noise. How can someone not wake themselves up with such loud non-stop snoring, yet they can wake up with ONE sigh from their partner?
Anyways, despite my thoughts on the selfishness of people who allow their chosen (as they did nothing to prevent it & alone produced it) weight to affect those they supposedly care about, after another marathon of snoring i tried to nudge him (as he told me to) only for him to jump up & start yelling on me, with the attitude my sleep isnt as valuable as his, that is when i blurted out "Im tired of being the bad person~~maybe if you lost a few lbs we wouldn’t be in this position yet again…." In the past I have approached his weight with a lot more respect & supported him when he went out & purchased exercise equipment he doesn’t use over items we really need in everyday (the only thing we have in our home is a bed, a small TV & his row machine & bike. I suggested things like lets take our dog for a walk & even the 3 months he is off during the winters, I suggested we join a sport together or even a gym to swim at. He hates vegetables & views a plate of meat as a meal. Although he is finally taking some vitamins he isnt doing anything to get the weight down. His weight is 90% of the reason he snores soooo obnoxiously.
Obviously by my frustrating rambling Im experiencing another sleepless night only compounded with the utter guilt I feel from saying something so bluntly to him :/ Its just after a few years it really gets ridiculous that they continue to choose to put the relationship in the position of constant strain over an issue only they can solve. It really is the person with the medically obese weight who is in control & they TORTURE others with it while making excuses & telling themselves the person who loves them is just mean & wants bad things for them…. They feel bullied, when in reality it is they who are forcing others to walk on eggshells about a topic & side affects that are obvious to anyone.
Ok Im done ranting.
I know I was rude & mean even though my comment wasnt meant about the "LOOKS" & was more about the consequences of over self indulgence choice that affects us BOTH adversely, I did hurt his feelings. I realize regardless of how overtired I was it will not take away the words i blurted. How does one apologize for a circumstantial blunder like this? Do i deserve an apology for his handling of the situation that put us in that position to begin with (the jumping up & yelling at me for disturbing his sleep) or is he truly the victim here?

I feel like you’re being passive-aggressive due to frustration. You just need to flat out tell him wats up

In the last few months, particularly the last few weeks, I am ridiculously tired all the time, and I don’t understand why. I have headaches sometimes too, though i have noted that i need to drink more water.

Before, I could get 8 hours sleep and be up early in the morning and get a good day’s work done in college, and I would also work 4 days per week on top of that, and hold up a great social life and go out every week.

Now, even writing this I feel sick from fatigue. I got 9 hours sleep last night and wasn’t up particularly early, i went into college for about 2 hours and i had to come home because I felt so tired. this happens to me on a regular basis.

I have tried everything. I have changed my diet to a balanced one with no junk food, and i have started getting much more exercise. i have stopped drinking and smoking, and i am taking multivitamins and ginseng, and i have started forcing myself to drink coffee (i hate it). energy drinks and things like that do nothing for me. i have taken mental health days, and still nothing. Every morning I wake up feeling like i need a good night’s sleep. I don’t snore so i don’t suspect sleep apnea. I had my blood sugar and oxygen levels taken and they’re fine, as are my iron levels. I’m not pregnant, over or underweight. I have also cut down my working hours to only a few hours at the weekend. i have no early starts during the week either.

Has anyone got any advice? I’m really getting frustrated and upset at this stage, it’s really affecting my college work and my life in general

I hope you won’t think I’m being lazy*although I sort am..* for giving you the exact answer I just gave someone else, but it applies to you so well that I figured I would save some time.

First though I will give you a more personal answer.

A balanced diet does not equate to a healthy one! Have you tried low fat raw food diet? Start with green smoothies! But defiantly look into a plant base diet. Focus on eating as much fruit as you care for.

Ok here’s the other answer

"Ok, what you are experiencing is called detox! This is very important to understand. When you skip a meal, especially breakfast, your body attempts to cleanse itself because the digestion is not
Busy with a meal. Far too often people see this as a bad thing. A sign of low blood sugar or some other malfunction of the body. This is not the case for most. Especially if you eat a SAD diet(look it up).

You should read about detox. Especially Arnold Ehrets books. They are very strange and not 100% correct but in essence his writigs are the most acurate as to fasting and true detox.

You need far more sleep than that. 9 hours would be great*which you said you get, keep it up*. And as for your loss of hunger, that is a normal sign that your body is giving you. The worst thing you could do is eat a heavy breakfast, do not eat animal products for breakfast nor grains. You should eat only fruit, and as much as you care for. This will aid your detox instead of halt it like the normal fair will and you will have improved energy from the simple sugars(the best source of carbohydrates for man). And never let anyone tell you that fruit sugar is bad for you. In no way is it similar to refined sugar! Dont drink soda or coffee, stay far away from stimulants! Carb up with fruit and hydrate. Minimize your intake of fat and animal protein. Get your protein from greens and fruit and your small amount of RAW fat from nuts like brazil nuts and chia seeds. Get some bee pollen! Now foods spiraling may help to. Eat real foods from nature and only whole foods."

I always sleep soundly, have normal dreams, ect.
At camp, I sleep talk and walk and yell, and snore loudly.
I’m always the first to fall asleep of my cabinmates. I drop dead and sleep the whole night.
First, they told me I snored, and talked, which I never new.
Then, one time, they asked me where I went in the middle of the night. I said "In my bed, sleeping." But they said I wasn’t. I got worried. Where was I? I might have gotten myslef hurt. There was a drop going to a river on one sideof our cabin, and a forest on the other. How did I find my way back to the cabin? Had I done this before and my cabinmates didn’t notice?
They also said that in the night I was slamming the door and yelling "I won’t sign the bill!", I was hitting the wall, yelling "No! No! Stop it!", ect. I felt really bad because I often woke them up, but I couldn’t stop it.
On vacation, in a hotel, my mom and dad said they were woken up by me sleeptalking loudly. They said I was objecting to something. They didn’t remember, something like "No, don’t put it there."
One time, on another trip, and she said that I was sleeptalking, saying "No! Stop it! I won’t do it do it!"
I thought that I was just doing sleepstuff because I was homesick, the more extreme at camp, because I missed parents/pets, but recently at sleepovers, and at my house when I fell asleep reading, my friends/parents say I was sleeptalking. I started to wonder, do I do this normally, but nobody knows?, do I sleepwalk and come back to my bed? How can I stop this?

I don’t know how old you are, but things like sleepwalking (somnambulism) and night terrors are not uncommon in children and preteens. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can really do about it as it’s all unconscious processes going on while you sleep. Normally the body has a way of keeping itself immobile while sleeping (cataplexy), but it seems like yours isn’t doing a good enough job.

Luckily, the vast majority of people grow out of it by the time they reach teenage years. Some adults still sleeptalk, but it’s not common for them to sleepwalk. And luckily right now you stay in places where others can potentially keep an eye out for you (home, camp cabin) in case something does happen while you’re asleep, but most sleepwalkers don’t encounter accidents much worst than stumbling into things occasionally.

It’s amazing because a small part of you is still conscious of the environment around you — which is why sleepwalkers are able to do things like open drawers, doors, etc. They don’t just stand up out of bed and walk straight into a wall. There is still some self-preservation at work and your body generally won’t want to walk off a cliff or a roof, or into a bonfire.

My guess is that you usually come back to your bed after your walk, but don’t be surprised if you wake up one time in a strange spot – it can happen. Try not to worry, as there is some anecdotal evidence that anxiety can make such ’sleepstuff’ occur more often. It’ll go away on its own.

I hope that helped.

I need to know how to stop snoring: snoring is ruining my relationship with my wife! Why do men snore so loudly? I wish that I could just stop snoring but I don’t know where to look for help. Does snoring fall under the category of sleep disorders? I’ve heard of this site called MySnoreWorld.com , but last time I tried to look the site was under construction. Please help me stop snoring or find some snoring cures or snoring solutions!

I have been on mysnoreworld.com and it’s a great site for anyone who wants to learn about snoring, how to stop snoring, talk about snoring with other people who snore etc. They have snoring product reviews and forums and everything. I am a frequent visitor (my husband snores very loudly and sometimes it is tough to deal with!) and I have never seen it under construction… must have been a fluke.

Anyways, the first tip you should know about how to stop snoring is that you should never sleep on your back. Snoring is caused because the throat muscles relax and drop down into the open air of your throat, so the air trying to get past the blockage of your throat muscles is what makes the snoring sound. They have products that hold your jaw up, and breathe right strips open up the air passageways in your nose so you can breathe through there instead of your throat.

Hi, so ive always had issues sleeping and im so frustrated at this point. Im 15 and have had problems sleeping for 15 years. Ive done everything (lavender, music, meditation, reading, stories on tape, no tv, no computer, quiet, loud, dark, night lights, yoga, exercise, routine) and nothing helps. Ive tried like every over the counter sleeping pill (including melatonin recently) they always work for like a month or something then stop. Ive gone to the doctor but they dont know why I dont sleep and dont want to prescribe me anything stronger because of my age.I just got a sinus surgery (for other reasons) and now i can breath WAYYYYYY better but it hasnt helped. Ive been told i snore and i know i toss and turn. I get tired and everything and fall asleep in the middle of the day and when I get the chance i sleep till like 2 in the afternoon. Just nighttime is when im active and even if im exausted as soon as i turn off the light its like im wide awake again and dont fall asleep for hours (some nights i dont even fall asleep and just lay there until its time to get up and go to school). Im in high school and cant run on 4 hour of sleep a night. So do you have any ideas ill do pretty much anything at this point all i want is to sleep.

Sorry for the legnth but THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH

There is a special medicine with a bee on the front. I’ll find the label

for a while now iv not been feeling well but have not got a gp as iv just registered and it takes from 7-10 days to fully register….any ways getting to the point.

i have rapidly put on weight this year even though i dont eat large portions or snack inbetween and i also get regular exercise.

i will highlight some facts about what i do have and if anyone can just give me more info i would greatly appreciate it….

i have heavy sleap apnea and stop breathing for 10-15 seconds whilst sleeping and this happens on a time lapse of every 5-10 mins of sleeping …i am always tired no matter how long i sleep i feel its not enough but then i have to get up or else my body and my head give me severe pain as well as migraine.

When i wake up i feel breathless as if i have i have a ton of bricks on my chest and my breathing is so loud people comment on it (also i dont know if this matters but i have a large chest area and i feel its so heavy and wondered if this could be making me feel like this) ………..any ways the other day i hard sharp pains along my left ribcage and tightening along under my bust wear my heart is …i thought its os i had been rushing around getting on the bus from the tube and the sudden temperature change may have caused it but when i got home i felt so weak and kept feeling anxiety like symptoms and burst in to tears and for some reason got very emotional but over what i dont know …the next day i hhad this pain again but it was so unbearable that i called the ambulance and they took me to hospital .

arriving at the hospital blood tests showed that my oxygen level to the heart was low and that i may have a suspected blood clot which they then ruled out . they also said my heart doesnt beat normal and beats fast …after checking for blood clots and not finding any they sent me home as its new years and no doctors available …..im very confused as im still short of breath i feel so weak and i can feel my heart at times running so fast !!! the doctor was rubbish who could hardly speak english …..i dont know what to do i am feeling so depressed and anxious all the time i feel as if i just want to be alone and just cry but i dont want to cry in front of friends and family ….please somebody help me i am going to the gp after the bank holiday weekend as theres no point going hospital as they dont care and had me hanging around for ages and i cant sleep in a hospital ward amongst others cos of my sleep apnea and my snoring is enough for the third floor to hear loool .

any comments are much appreciated

Your sleep apnea sounds rather severe. It will cause weight gain, fatigue, chest pain, low oxygen & other symptoms, all bad. Do you have a bipap or Cpap machine to help you breath at night? It will make a world of difference for you, but will take some time & determination to get used to. Is there another hospital you can go to? Or maybe a different Dr. will be on duty at the one you went to before. You really need to get some help as soon as possible. Are there urgent care clinics that are open at night in your area? That might be a good choice. But, the bottom line is, you need to get help soon. If you choose not to go to the ER or a clinic tonight, please call your GP right away tomorrow AM & explain what’s going on & that you don’t feel you should wait for several days for an appointment. Be polite, but firm, even asking to speak to an RN if needed.
