heres the problem everytime i try to sleep i hear my mom snoring. yeah i know. i cant tell her to stop snoring cause you cant really make that happen. i dont want to take any sleeping pills, wear ear plugs or listen to my ipod because that will usually keep me awake. ive gone to several websites and tried stuff from breathing deeply, taking warm showers before going to sleep, exercising before sleeping, drinking warm milk, stretching to counting 100-1 while breathing deeply at each number (yes i know sounds crazy). i dont wanna go to the doctor or anything. and yes i probably have insomnia because of this. is there even a way of curing this? im really sick of sleeping about an hour after laying restless in bed and then waking up around 45 minutes later then going through the same routine over and over. oh yeah im only 15 years old.
Are you able to move your sleeping area to a different part of the house? You could have a small fan running, the noise is sort of like white noise that may cover some of the snoring. Maybe you can suggest to your mother to try those nasal strips or throat spray for her snoring, it can be risky for some snorers to get sleep apnea. I feel for ya kiddo, my ex husband snored like a lumber jack sawing logs…unbearable!

Urge your mom to see her dr, for a referal to a sleep clinic. It’s not normal to snore, and she may have sleep apnea. This is where you stop breathing for short periods of time all night . Lots of health problems can occur as a result. For you, have you tried a fan? It’s light white noise….it may help. Good luck.

Definitely a fan. I have idiotic neighbors next door who play in their pool at all hours of the night. I couldn’t do it without my fan… If your mother can stand it, turn that sucker on! Hopefully the noise of the fan doesn’t bother you though. I am terrible at sleeping too, so I feel for ya. Hope it gets better.

1: Teach yourself to tune it out.
2: Sleep with your bedroom door shut.
3: Buy a fan. That will drown out any noise (I use one and it’s a perfect remedy).
I used to have trouble sleeping with noise (still do, sometimes)…and all of the above help me out greatly.
